Bright sunshine welcomed me this morning so after a breakfast of potato stuffed paratha, yoghurt and tea I hit the road.
Unfortunately it seems the roads have been upgraded quite a lot since I last came this way. For the first couple of hours out of Jaipur the single carriageway road is now a toll motorway.
Bugger.
There isn’t really an alternative heading in the right direction, so I had to stick with it. At least it was quiet, but boring –

Quiet at least until we had to do a bit of a contraflow due to some roadworks –
We seemed to stay on the wrong side for a long, long time and even those on the left side, the ‘correct side’ seemed to be going the wrong way –
Eventually the road opened up again and got even more boring –
I managed though to find a way off it and down a ‘normal’ road through some villages –
Just have to watch out for traffic pulling across in front of you –
And on –
By now it was getting time for lunch so I looked for a short time and then found what looked like a reasonable place in a garden –
Lunch was garlic nan, peas and cheese and stuffed potatoes. Stuffed with what I couldn’t tell. It’s a shame there isn’t much colour in the normal food. After a while it all tends to look the same, though the flavours are very different –
It wasn’t cheap either, equivalent to 7 euro with a drink. Anyway, I hit the road again and it was nice and scenic and quiet (apart from when going through the villages). That’s one of the good things about Rajasthan, lots of open space –
I did get held up once though –
Eventually got into my destination, Jodhpur, and to the hotel. This used to be a private house until about four years ago when it was converted to a hotel. See if you can spot the chipmunkythingy animal –
After a quick toilet break and drop my bag off I went for a walk round. As usual, just outside the nice clean hotel the place goes to the dogs with litter/rubbish/pollution etc –
Anyway, it’s India, so I carried on and took some photos of the area –
I was a bit peckish when I got back so I had a quick toasted cheese sandwich and chips (french fries) but I think that’ll be enough for me for tonight.
Off towards Jaisalmer tomorrow, we’ll see how we get on. Hopefully it’ll get more sandy.
